Product Description
Adenium, commonly known as the Desert Rose, is a striking succulent shrub featuring a thick, swollen water-storing base called a caudex and vibrant trumpet-shaped flowers. Native to Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, it is widely grown as an ornamental container or bonsai plant.
Key Care Requirements
• Sunlight: Needs full sun with at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily to promote heavy blooming.
• Soil: Requires a fast-draining, sandy or gravelly potting mix (such as a cactus and succulent blend).
• Watering: Water deeply, but allow the soil to dry completely between waterings to prevent fatal root rot. Reduce water significantly during winter dormancy.
• Temperature: Thrives in warm weather (21°C–38°C) and must be protected from frost and cold, wet conditions.
Common Uses & Traits
• Sculptural Appeal: The twisted, swollen trunk (caudex) creates a unique, living-sculpture or bonsai look.
• Toxicity: The sap contains cardiac glycosides and is toxic if ingested by pets or humans.
